2012 Kawasaki Versys 0-60 mph 3.9 Quarter Mile 12.7 Now I would take that figure with a pinch of salt because it seems a bit quick 0-60 would reckon the quarter maybe about right. Also the BMW has some gizmos on it to stop it wheeling and spinning the rear wheel so it will be slower off the mark.
Reality is the BMW will easily outrun the Versys over 70 and mid range so don't take too much on them figures. It doesn't state whether that is a 1000 versys either but based on its similar cousin the bare bones full power cheapo street bike version of the versys the ER6N being quicker at
also I have seen the 1000 versys as being quoted at 3.2 0-60 but would take those Kawasaki figures as being slightly opitimistic overall.
My old Ninja
2000 Kawasaki ZX-9R 0-60 mph 3.1 Quarter Mile 10.3 The figures do not quite make you realise just how quick the Ninja was though, my Versys would have been quicker of the mark and more or less flat out by the end of a standing quarter at around 110 while the Ninja would have clocking over 130.
2011 Yamaha Super Tenere 0-60 mph 3.4 Quarter Mile 12.5 Quite nippy considering what it is
2000 Suzuki DR-Z400S 0-60 mph 6.3 Quarter Mile 14.5 Which is not bad for a single cylinder 400

Like Paul, I have to be realistic on what bike I can cope with from a strength point of view. I struggle to move the Versys around so wouldn't want anything heavier, however close to the ground I was.
I was thinking of selling it as I quite fancy the Triumph Street Triple - seems to have a bit more soul than the rather bland, but functional, Versys. The V coped with everything we did in Europe but there were times when I wished for a more feisty engine (and a more characterful engine noise....).
However, since changing jobs I now am in the position of not having to take much back to the depot in Exeter on a daily basis - just some paperwork, a hand held scanner and any failed parcels. As most of them are really small I reckon most days I can get away with putting it all in the top box and taking the bike. At least that's the plan for the coming spring/summer. So, looks like it'll stay with me as it has the required topbox and is not really costing me anything at the moment.
