Breakdown cover

After the drowning of Phil's Katoom and the revelation that he had no breakdown cover it reminded me why me and the missus recently moved one of our accounts to Nationwide Flex plus account.
The account currently cost £13 a month which can be a joint account (which then covers you both) but you can offset some of the cost as it pays a reasonable interest rate (3%) up to £2500.

It gives you several benefits which one is a vehicle breakdown cover to any vehicle registered to you which includes euro cover and towed trailers and caravans, it does of course come with a whole load of conditions but then so do most breakdown covers.

It also gives you travel insurance
also no fee cash withdrawals abroad which is handy because you can just draw cash however if you use the card as a debir card you will get stung so it pays to draw the cash

Also Mobile phone insurance which has a £50 excess I think but if you have an expensive phone then worth it

Some of the benefits extend to family Check it out

Aye - I insure bikes through Carole Nash which includes breakdown cover and recovery which I have used once or twice for the Katoom certainly feels good value when you compare to calling out a monster recovery van to recover a bike at £90 for <10 miles!

Looks like a good deal Paul if you leave £2.5k in credit all year.

Unfortunately the travel insurance excludes motorcycles over 125cc.

Yes, but it does cover some winter sports. Usually you have to have a specific policy for big bikes.

Found the no fee cash withdrawals handy

Yes that's what we've had to get for our foreign trips at £198 per year. Plus breakdown cover at £160 per year for three people in any vehicle with RAC although that's onward travel included which is important to us with the Scottish and racing trips. Plus £100 per year for European breakdown cover.

Not worried about the gadget/phone cover as I never spend much more than the excess.

I'm still tempted though as the European breakdown cover looks better than the one we have.
