The roads to and from it really somewhat long. Trials of Tierra del Feugo, ahem, [uh oh austin vinco] flat straight windy n crusty. Blue ice turns grey as millenia old hard packed ice becomes ditchwater without the sun's refraction...enjoy the scenery It's been going on forever in its own sweet way

No we don't do boats much Rob let alone cruises. We flew into Santiago went north to Atacama desert then down to lakes then way south to Punta Arenas opposite side of Magellan straight (maybe 1km) from Tierra Del Feugo in Argentina. Photo's of blue glacier are boat trip in Torres Del Paine Patagonia (inland lake /river system) we didn't get out and scramble on the glacier, the Chileans are good at preserving nature it was Verboten in fact visitor numbers in all national parks are restricted. Lovely country nice people great Ceviche. Trip that exceeded expectations

Know all about Pinochet the dictator. Plus bonus Queen Elizabeth 2's role in adjudicating a territory dispute (in 1977) between Chile and Argentina (she found in favour of Chile) that the Chileans believe led directly to the Falklands war.....travel is good

An iteresting part of the world, we sailed part of the Beagle channel a few years back and I was wondering why we not allowed to make port on the Chilean side. Interestingly we did go ashore on the Argentine side to a place called Harbeton which was settled by someone from near Totnes in the 1800's.

Ushuaia port wasn't so welcoming, luckily we were on a Dutch vessel.
