Maybe if it didn't keep stalling it would help and from experience too much two stroke oil can cause that as it is supposed to be pre mix and run on a weak 1:80 ratio.
It seems to be an issue with them, no real reserve capacity in the battery and a cold start issue which is supposed to be sorted out by KTM. Bit stuffed with no kick start however the Husky was electric only and I always managed to get it going although a few times it was almost a bump it job.
Maybe go for the 4T.

Hardly a ringing endorsement, although I think he overlooked the "training, ****ing training, boy" he was getting through pushing the bike uphill and down dale
Pin back ur lugholes lucky,I met a hardcore dirtbike couple last eve at local mx track and got chatting bout bikes, the woman was on a 350 4 stroke freeride so i asked her what she thought of it, she replied feck me mate pull up a chair and light a camp fire, then reeled off all the faults they've had so far, including 4 electrical faults all different after only 8 hours she failed to start so back to dealer who claimed shed got dust in it, cut medium story short teflon came off piston resulting in major surgery, bike spent more time in dealers workshop than on trails. seemed to be going allright with her fella blasting round on it. btw she had a lovely pair of knockers and with her sweat laden t shirt on and sun bhind her I swear to god twas like she was topless.atb.x
Well seems the Freeride is an expensive pile of shat then in the reliability stats. Best avoided
When I am up for a bike I shall revert back to my original thought which was a AJP. Like an PR4 Trail, carries a two year unlimited mileage warranty for a start, has leccy and kick start, air cooled and 100kg and around £3500 shed loads cheaper than the KTM.
According to the website Wheeldon are a dealer

Dunno if they sell em but assume they do, they went independent there and have several different makes of bikes . They did have a PR4 240 , they also have a Husky
To quote " KTM Freeride 350, Honda CRF250X and AJP PR4. Club riders can hone their skills on the superb race-bred Husqvarna CR125, and for juniors and novice riders we have a mix of Honda, Suzuki and AJP bikes with different seat heights.”" That was April 2013

I beleive Wheeldon have a couple of Freerides, Andrew was riding one on the Ten Tors, I'd go and have one for the day if I was interested in buying one.
Snaf is right, there are Freeride's to try at Wheeldon, although probably not beyond March as they're considering getting some Big Red's to replace the orange . Looking at £125 half day for the privilege mind...
Still cheaper than a mistaken buy. Worry is , f i like it enough to buy (a used ) one, despite the apparent unreliability i'd also have to run the gauntlet of abuse from you lot. With the Hog thing I doubt i could take any more
Realised lately I have mostly been sounding totally mad when I post stuff on here.
However, I do like the idea of trying a 4t free ride. It seems it is still being refined so understanding what was wrong with earlier ones would be an advantage.

Blimey - £125 for half a day?
That's more than Supertaff has spent on maintaining his CRF since he's had it

Makes you wonder if they are changing them because of reliability issues? Might be worth having a chat with them Gary and see if you can get an honest informed opinion from them. Plus half a day might on a day out on the lanes may not be enough and round the track will tell you very little
From all reviews they are an outstandingly good trail bike, I don't think that is in question, but there does seem to be some issues with them and as you well know it and it can be very expensive when they go wrong. Expensive to buy and expensive to repair and a warranty that is for only 6 months from new.
I am seriously thinking about buying an AJP, the only thing that puts me off is the lack of dealerships and therefore parts back up, and although it has a 2 year warranty how the hell are you going to keep it serviced and stamped for the warranty?
I can't deny my mighty little Hondy has lacked a bit of TLC but if I can get her started with help of easy start she drags my sorry ass round all day long.
moral of story "if it ain't broke it soon will be" x
The engines are built in Taiwan and are based on the Honda XR designed.
Not Chinese. but bear in mind the bikes are built using quality components in Portugal, many of these components are well known Euro parts. Although the Chinese CRF versions of the CRF230 are poo, its mainly down to the build quality of the bike and the actual engine is quite sturdy.
Bear in mind many components are now made in Asia and particularly China including some well known urm *cough* American brands, nuff said Even BMW and KTM have caught out on that using Chinese made parts, I would think every manufacturer is at it nowadays.
The fact that the assembly and quality control exists in the country of manufacture is what is important. There was a time when Japanese stood for shat. Notably Isuzu a major world engine manufacture have a Japan and Taiwan base
Have a word with Andy see if the Spain crew can shed further light on it as they have run the bikes quite a bit and I think have the water cooled engine now, the water cooled engine is not a copy it was designed in house in Portugal but I believe may be manufactured in Taiwan still. Also ask Wheeldon and see what they think. The bikes are not cheap but sit midway on price. I think the only reason they have not taken off here is that the market has been terrible for dirt bikes in general, hence the demise of sveral dealers.
I think you would find the air cooled engines underpowered for you as you are a bit taller and heavier than me the 240 is just a little more power than a CRF230 but better suspension and brakes.
The water cooled puts out a similar power to the Honda CRF250x which is carbed but slightly less even though it is injected. I get the impression it is mildly tuned for long life and torque.
Try one and see what you think, maybe a trip to Spain?
I may be wrong but I thought the 200 and 240 engine were based on the Suzy DR200 motor.
The 250 aircooled motor is a Honda copy and can be upgraded using a 280 kit for the Honda.
The 250LC motor is soon to be available in the GasGas Cami a budget trailbike made I think in Brazil using GG's budget range suspension.
I rode the 250 aircooled model at a demo day and rather liked it, it fealt like the Beta in its ergonomics and wasn't far off in the performance either but it did have £1000 aftermarket exhaust and upgraded FI and various other mods which would have made it nearly the same price as new Beta.
I also rode the 200 enduro model and whilst it was new it didn't perform as well as my XR200 monoshock, a bit disapointing to be honest.
In conclusion I'd probably always buy a couple of years old main stream manufacturers bike rather than an AJP but would consider a secondhand AJP that has lost some value.
